Description

This is a unique project in the unique year of 2023, in which there were as many as 13 full moons. Full Moons occur every 27.3 days, which allowed for as many as 13 of them in 2023. The second full Moon in the same month is called the Blue Full Moon. The full moon was photographed every month and my time was set for it on those days.
The weather wasn't always good and at the beginning of the project I had to chase windows in the clouds to catch the full moon. Everything was going well, as it always did at the beginning, despite the bad weather we managed to find a piece of clear sky. After the first months, there was already stress and uncertainty whether I would be able to complete the project, or rather whether the weather would allow and be kind to me. The worst months in this respect were October, November and December. These months were the most stressful and uncertain about the weather. In November, I went to the other end of Poland to capture the full moon, because it was supposed to be cloudless there. Fortunately, a tiny window appeared behind Katowice, which was enough to photograph before the last full moon of 2023.

Today, December 27, at 1:33 am, the last and 13th full moon in 2023 occurred exactly at 01:33 am in Racibórz in front of the house under an almost clear sky, which was covered with a thick layer of clouds a few hours earlier. The project started in January and I was happy to complete it after a lunar year.

In the photos, I described all the names of the full moons along with their dates and also included the Perigee and Apogee of the moon without changing the scale. These are the points when the moon is closest and farthest from Planet Earth. As a result, the moon is larger and smaller at these points.
